My maternal grandfather (Pop Pop) started keeping a Tapley family tree on a steno pad. After he passed, I ended up with that pad and added a few names and dates over the years. It wasn't until many years later that I picked that steno pad back up and really began researching with a vengeance. Of course, I use a computer now, but I still have those steno pad pages... it's a link to my Pop Pop.
Over the years, I branched out and began to learn more about my paternal grandmother's Drake family from Adrian, Emanuel County, Georgia; my maternal grandmother's Ranney family originally from Middletown, Connecticut; and my maternal great-grandmother's Schwalls family originally from Germany.
Now completely addicted to the hunt, I split my "hobby" time between genealogy and scrapbooking. On a really good day, they overlap.
